Austin City Limits at Zilker Park. First Thursdays on South Congress. These events and more would be in your backyard if you lived in South Austin. South Austin has drastically changed according to anyone who was familiar with this area a decade or two ago. What was once used-car lots and gas stations are now luxury stores and trendy bars. South Congress (SoCo) is now a strip of upscale boutiques, hotels, and some of Austin’s finest restaurants. South Lamar, which runs parallel to South Congress, has followed the trend and emerged as a younger twin to the SoCo area. On South Lamar (SoLa), there are upscale town homes and condos, fine dining and some great nightlife and boutiques.
